Question boost in 1st gear?

First off, I'm a newbie on this forum. Anyway, I installed a Autometer electronic boost gauge in my Evo. Now I notice that in first gear I'm only getting 12-14 psi. 2nd thru 5th I'm getting 19 psi. It seems like I have to floor the throttle to get any boost in first gear. Before I installed the boost gauge, it always sounded like the turbo would spin up fine in first gear. I searched the forum and did not find anything that really applied to this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Actually there is... but, this is usually true, you get peak boost in 4th and 5th usually, which also the boost will taper off later in the powerband. This is why a EVC (electronic valve control) like HKS offers will help stop the boost fall of and also give you a more linear 19psi of boost. I think if you looking for performance gains you should look in to the highly Repeatable Dynoflash. PM: Dynoflash he can set you up. It is the best BANG for the $$!!
But yes this looks normal for stock boost levels.

Well in my car it ain't the case. I get a solid 19psi boost in 1st-5th gear. But yes, it does taper off in the higher rpm ranges.

my Blitz SBC ID allows me to hold 20psi in every gear. Except 5th, it is slightly higher at 21psi which is still ok w/me.

1st gear is aweasome though, I can peel out on concrete if I just floor it in 1st.
