I'm getting the same grind OP.

Its only a slight grind about half the time..and then about 20% of the time it grinds enough that it makes me cringe. I feel like I have to baby it into second, and thats when it grinds.

I'm interested to know if you adjusted your clutch pedal and that fixed it?

ok so i just upgraded my tranny and t-case to a full built shep system. quaife lsd, new synchros, upgraded first gear, five speed, rem isf, etc etc etc. and it now has around 2,500 miles on the new trans, but second gear is a trouble still, at least while its cold. occasionally, depending on how cold it is, the synchro wont even let me shift into second gear... but once its warmed up it shifts like butter. so i wouldnt think anything bad of it until it gets worse, if it does. it may just be an evo thing, but im taking a wild guess on that
