Question 1st gear grind

Hello, I just searched and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. It seems I have read about gear grinds in 2-5 but never in 1st. I have a 05 EVO GSR with about 5000 miles on it. I tried launching my car for the first time by using the 5000 rev limit last night and something went wrong and I heard a loud grind sound. Now when I am at a stop it is very hard to get into 1st and also it makes a grind noise, not all the time, but when it does its annoying. ALl the other gears seem fine. The temperature last night got down to about 30 degrees. I haven't changed my tranny fluid, transer case, or rear diff fluid yet. Could that be the problem since I drive hard occasionally. Before I tried launching the car I was driving for about an hour straight on the way home, sometimes hitting high speeds on the tollway. Could the fluid have heated up too much to where it broke down its ability to perform proper? my mods are K&N drop in, Hallman MBC, and APS BOV. Thanks for any help.

I have NOT changed the fluids, so it should be the stock fluid what ever mitsubishi put in. It should be under waranty, but I just wanted to see if there was a quick fix before taking it to the dealer, which I am not too fond of the place where I bought my car.

Just take it to the dealer if you've got a warranty. I know that's not the help you're looking for, but it's your best option for right now.
