SuperTech Valvetrain

Hey Guys,

So i will be running Kelford 272/272 cams and while im in there I want to install Supertech Valvetrain.

Is it worth replacing the Valves and Valve guides as well?

Also, I want to run the dual springs is this set up loud?

I currently run Supertech Duals but will be switching to Kiggly beehives very soon.

I take it you will be dong this w/ the head off the car........

Up tp you to replace the valves/guides depending on condition/mileage etc and at that point you may want to do all the work you wish on the head since you're touching a bunch of stuff in there already.

The duals come w/ new smaller seals and don't seem to make more noise than my Supertech singles did

If you change the valves and guides the head will have to come off.

4G63K, why specifically do you want the SuperTech dual springs? As far as the valves go, we use the nitrided and inconel SuperTechs in our head builds typically. The springs not so much as they seem to have a taste for valvestem seals.

Kiggly's allow for 11k+ revs and pretty much any cam devised. FP beehives work well to 8600 or so and possibly higher depending how disciplined your right foot is.

Well I'm kind of one of those people that like to have the good parts in their car. I want to run the Duals just incase i ever want to switch up the set up and build the motor. Are the Dual springs okay to daily drive?

Also. I hear theat the Supertech are really good quality. Rather be safe than Sorry

we have installed over a hundred Evo heads with the Supertech spring kit, and besides at first (3-4years ago when the valve seal issue came about) have not had a issue yet. (the Honda camp is not a good comparison. we have not seen the same issues associated with them with the Mitsu kit...these are perfectly safe!)

You just have to use a valve seal for the Honda LS or Supertech sells the correct seal as well. If you don't the inner spring will rub on the seal and destroy it. Important to be armed with knowledge of parts selection.

In deciding to rebuild the head completely with guides, valve job and such we always recommend it to our customers. The stock guides are cast iron, and steel retains heat. So, you can take heat out of the valve by running the bronze. And although bronze does wear faster, bronze will not break apart and end up in your engine like a cast guide will. So you free up a little power(very little) by reducing friction, and get some safety in there as well. You will also pick up a little flow and safety with a good valve with accouterments like thicker margins, and more heat resistant materials make it a good choice if your wallet allows it.
