BR Intake Length? WTH?

Hey guys, I recently got a good deal on (2) BR intakes. One is a polished one I got locally from a member on EvoM, and the other is the crinkle black finish one I bought off Ebay. I was planning on using the polished one as it'd match everything else in the engine bay. However, upon inspection, the polished intake is about 3" longer than the black one. With the cone filter I'm using, it does not fit. I'm not worried, as I'd just cut off excess and reroll the end, but I was just unsure about length. I didn't see anything in BR.com about a length or finish option. I should probably have posted this in the Buschur forum, but I figured one of you guys could give me a quick answer here.

So what's the deal?

Thanks guys.

They are IDENTICAL, except for the finish and length. And I got the Ebay one from a private person. The weird part is, the Ebay one fits PERFECTLY. The polished one, I got from a friend who is a member here, has major clearance issues with a regular style cone filter. Is that why everyone runs the shorty filters?

I'll have to post some pics of the two side by side.

I'm confused even with a Tial in the way I have plenty of room even when i was running a MAF system.

Roadspike,

OP is referring to the pipe itself not the filter. It looks like you have a Dejon pipe which negates the issue

Oh my bad

I do remember having to put the original buschur intake kit at an angle when i was running with the intake kit and their IC pipes. Mine was polished btw I could probably dig up a picture of it if you guys want.

EDIT
found an old picture with the old mini battery and everything!

I doubt one of those really long filters would ever fit on it

Even my polished one doesn't look like the pic that Roadspike posted... On his, it looks like from the recirc part of the pipe back to the turbo is longer. If I had mine like that, the recirc pipe would be pointed at the compressor housing. I'm totally lost...

Also, either of the intakes that are on it have the lower rad hose mashed against the slave cylinder. I don't think the intake should be touching the lower rad hose, amirite? That'd be like pulling air through an oven before it gets into the turbo.

it appears as if the person cut the pipe before they powder-coated it. I am debating doing the exact same thing to my buschur pipe because it rubs on my hood now.

If you could post a pic, that'd help me a lot just as a reference. Thanks.

Is the BR (polished) intake meant to run without the MAF??

I'm not sure why the black pipe is so short but we've made revisions to the MAF pipe over the years. Both appear as they could be our parts. Are you running the MAF sensor and our new or old style filter kits? The old style had the filter that bolted right to the MAF and was shorter, then when those were no longer available we switched to the current one that uses the aluminum adapter that bolts to the MAF and then the filter goes on, that makes it all longer and requires the shorter MAF pipe.
