fp black or best t3 set up for street

what you guys think.....i know different directions but need some input. Power goals are 500hp and 450+tq and will be used for the street, car is a 05 rs and isnt a dd.

I just know, like all of us, once we meet our goals, soon we want more power, and a 6262 for example has plenty room for improvment! but just not ccompletely sold on the power curve/spool characteristics. anyone care to share theyre experience with these two set ups?

We need significantly more information to give you a good answer, but it seems as if you have some lofty goals. My suggestion is to read, read, and read some more until you can answer this question for yourself. To get to your goal, it is going to take some $ and upkeep, you need to be prepared for that, so do yourself a favor and learn about the car.

Go with a T3 setup. If you worried about spool go with a 6057. Can always upgrade to 6262 later if it doesn't meet your goals.

Ive always had med frame turbos on my street cars(dsms). That whole spool stuff will quickly be forgotten when in my case a 37r hits and it hits hard.On the street its a monster.

I'd take a Black (or any other stockframe turbo) over a T3 setup. Give up a little top-end for a ton of mid-range power and torque.

Very true, lag is soon forgotten when feeling a nice size snail reach peak boost.

If your goals are 500whp I would go with a nice T3 Hta3582 or 86 and call it a day.

Stock ecu, Ets 4" IC, Precision 1,000cc, Kelford 272 Cams and you are good to go!

go with a twin scrool HTA gt35r for great spool and amazing topend power. This turbo is good for 700whp and with a twin scrool t4 1.06ar housing and a fullrace twin scrool manifold i hit full boost at 4,000rpm and a stock 2.0 motor.

Well, a little more about the car in question. .... has comp 280's,smc 50/50 ally kit,hks can gears, hallman mbc, gf spec exhaust Mani, 3" Jun tbe. Car made 360/390 on a DJ.

Its just hard to find info on the black.....not many people have tuned them yet. Hopefully after the holidays we should see some dyno graphs!

So what's the quickest spooling t3 out there. Trust me I've done a lot of researching and go back and forth daily, with the bigger turbos its gonna be hard to give those tq#'s

^There is info out there - if you do a search for "black" in the title only, there are 2 threads about an fp-black installed on a stock block on the 1st page. I know there is more info out there from both owners and shops, but you have to dig harder, especially for the owners.

I have a question - when people say "full boost by x rpm" do they mean a certain psi rating, like 20psi or 25psi? I ask because riceball mentions full boost at 4k, but clearly the boost goes higher than that. I figure they are comparing it to stock boost.

*edit, here are the threads I mentioned on the first page of the search:
thread #1
thread #2

well you can get an 18 psi wastegate actuator but it would not be good when boosting high in the future.

Personally I am not a fan of stock framed turbos but the Black definitely has me interested. Tons of midrange torque is fun for the street, but it also is a drive train killer. I am leaning toward an HTA86 build in the future and that will most likely be the same turbo my Talon gets next as well.

HTA86 is one of my favorite T3 Turbos ever.
