This thread is a dead horse and is covered every other day. Try a search.

The basic answer is about 450whp. That seems to be the point at which some people start throwing rods once in a while because of boost spikes, bad tunes, engine built on a Friday, or whatever.

This is not any kind of absolute limit by any means. Just a guideline. There are people who have stock blocks at 600hp but every one of them will tell you that it won't last at that level and most of those people are in the process of building a custom short block or saving for one.

Torque is the more dangerous of the two compared to HP. Keep the torque low and you can run a little higher HP safely.

In before the close.

STM likes to push the stock block pretty far. Give them a PM.

It depends on who is in charge of the keyboard and the way the parts are installed. We have seen them pretty far into the 10's. We actually have a car now that we are trying to break our own record of 10.0 with.
