Electric Water Pumps - Pros/Cons?
Electric Water Pumps - Pros/Cons?
I'm currently building my motor over the winter and came across the topic of water pumps with a friend.
I have researched for the past few weeks only to have a lot of the older V8 drag racers tell me to stay away. There seemed to be a lot of reliability issues a few years back with these.
If you have any insight or anything to add, please feel free to add your .02 cents.

Lukes has gone well over 20k miles at this point. The thing is setting it up to where it works and the heater works, and....
ITs worth about 10-15whp or so from our testing at the 520whp level. I dont think its going to go up though (power gained) when the power goes up in the motor. I think its fixed not linear.

It might actually add weight since you gut the stock waterpump housing and then add the electric pump and wiring. It does add consistent cooling independent of rpm though which is the main advantage to me. I can turn the boost up a pound and make 15whp
