The 61mm compressor wheel seems great but inside the old 0.70 compressor cover surging. old 61.4mm is actually 62mm now.

10%+ Gain in flow over traditional GT compressor wheel designs

10%+ Higher pressure ratio compared to traditional GT compressor wheel designs

Forged, fully machined wheels (billet) for expedited release

11 Full-blade design for improved efficiency and ultra quiet operation

Here is the info on Garretts wesite: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...ochargers.html

Think they have the GTX-42R and GTx-45R turbo avaliable. GT35 should be out later this year.

Cheers

Chris.
I've seen quite a few of them in person at a custom turbocharging shop here in the Phoenix area. I told the owner of the place I was interested in buying/upgrading a IX, but didn't think the big ones would be appropriate. He said that they could mix and match according to my application and had a few in stock for me to look at. I'm thinking of dumping my rx-7 and pulling the trigger. I keep seeming to run into guys with tons of money in paint and wheels cheap turbo setups.

here's some pics

I have a 1G with a standard 4202R with a 1.01 exhaust housing, It takes about 6.2K to get it up to 40 psi from a 3rd gear roll on. I like the thought of less boost to make the same power and the benefit of decreased spool time. Before I upgrade I wish I could see what the difference is in spool with just a turbo swap, without compression changes. Also I have not seen a 74mm compressor map released yet, has anyone seen it??

40psi by 6200 is pretty good imho, whats the engine setup like? How much power does it make?

His 1G put down whp in the mid 700's at our fall dyno day, maybe like 35psi IIRC? His DD evo casually put down 520 w/ a FP Red on it. This guy does not eff around!

It's a 2.3 stroker. 787whp 37psi peak settled out to 35psi up top.

I know it’s shocking that I’m posting. It’s just that I’m excited that there is finally cool turbo technology in larger compressor wheels.

The 61mm and 66mm wheels seem inticing, I'm thinking about upgrading the internals in the Bolt on Garrett GT3076r housing with .94 AR twin housing so I'm sure if it would be a surge monster or not. Maybe with the right portwork on the hot side it would be ok.

Inducer sizes:
GT3076r = 57mm
HTA35r = 59mm
35r = 61mm

I think the exducers are quite a bit larger on all of those numbers though which makes a difference as well.

So I've been told Garrett will have their billet 35R out maybe as soon as early summer. I'm shooting for that unit.

Anyone do testing to see the difference in spool between the old 4294r vs new4294r and for the old vs new 4202r? I read someone saw a 400-500rpm quicker spool on the gtx-r beleive that was 4202r vs 4202r
