Headstud question?

I am just about ready to assemble my new built motor. The old motor had a rod shoot through the block it was pretty bad. Any ways, i was wondering if it would be ok to re use the ARP head studs from the old motor. I don't think they were on there for too long. I am not sure how many times they have been torqued down but i am pretty sure they have seen some abuse. Or should i just spend the money and get new ones???

Spend the $90 or whatever and get new ones. That's a lot of peace-of-mind for the money and could potentially save you a lot of hassle.

If you dont really know the history of them i would get some new ones. Regular arp's are only like $90 or the L19's are about $250. If your not planning on over 700whp just go with the regular arp head studs.

Oh, you will know if one is bad, because when you go to put 85ft-lbs on it it will just keep stretching, meaning the nut will just keep spinning and you will never hit 85ft-lbs on the torque wrench. I imagine it would just break after enough stretching, but buying new ones is probably the way to go.
