Hey everyone,

Getting ready to install a catch can before I put on my IC. Just picked up a Greddy knock-off and wondering what I should use as baffle material inside to "trap" the oil.

Is something like this good enough?

Are you guys using anything else?

It seems like it would work well. That and it won't begin to rust as quick as carbon steel.

Do I fill up the whole can with it or just half way?

The more surface area for the oil vapor to condense, the better. But obviously keep an eye on the level of any oil that accumulates. The more you use, the less volume you have for oil and the level can rise quickly.

I use an clear air compress filter assembly, without the filter, and just some of the stainless steel mesh. So, I can easily see into the catch can.

Do not put steel wool in your catch can. The metal (even stainless) will flake and if you drain back it will get into your oil. If you really want to put some kind of baffling in there look into the plastic bath scrubbies. Since you won't really know what kind of plastic it is made out of put the scrubby in some oil for a day or two and make sure it does not break down first.

Someone a few posts back said dont use SS wool cause itll flake, if this unit was removing lots of water i could maybe see the ss wool corroding a bit and flaking but its oil, we use oil to stop it from corroding and everyone else i know uses SS or a copper like wool so youll be fine.

But yeah can u use fiberglass cloth??have like a wire mesh layer then a bunch of fiberglass and another wire mesh to make a filtration??

My catch cans came with coarse steel wool. Seems to work just fine. Radium dual catch can kit.
