Is the Evo starter motor identical to the starter for the standard Lancers?

Do you hear the starter relay trying to "kick" on? I noticed you have a 03, did you check ur wiring harness by the kickpanel next to the pedals as those can get corroded due to water getting into the cabin.

No the starter does not click at all. if the wiring harness was bad would it not allow the fuel pump to kick on when trying to start the car, or even try to start itself at all?

I assume you checked the terminals for good contact and they are tight?

checked everything today, and hit it with a hammer. the car started right up, but threw a code for crankshaft sensor.

Depends on which wires are corroded.

Throwing a code for the crank angle sensor doesnt explain why the car isnt turning over. Sounds like its time for a new starter if the relay isnt clicking on but it starts if you hit it with a hammer.

mine does that when it rains. It has something to do with the clutch switch.Sometimes I have to back off pressing the clutch so much to get her to start. Happens here and there. Not offen enough for me to figure it out haha.

anyone know what all is involved with replacing a crank sensor, if I need to go that route?
