How strong is the stock VCU?

How strong is the stock VCU?

Thinking about switching to an 03-04 tcase to eliminate the ACD for drag racing. I was going to take a good ACD t-case and swap the parts with a non-ACD tcase so the front LSD would be retained.

My big question is the stock VCU and how much power it can hold? The car has already gone 10's and I would like to hit 9's this summer with over 700whp. Can the stock VCU handle the torque/abuse?

This is the standard setup in all the high horsepower drag cars. Ours is fine at 1100whp. We have had other issues but the viscous isnt one of them.

Good to hear! I'm looking forward to getting rid of the pump and reservoir to free up some more room and weight.

Didn't you have problems with your ACD which destroyed the tcase and trans?

That was mostly driver induced, but yes the ACD locked while the fronts were spinning and rears werent. This shattered the hollow shaft in the center diff which turned into a jack and pushed the T-case apart. If we had done some mods to the ACD wiring I might have been able to avoid it. Recently it has become able to link to the ACD and before too long reflashing it will be able to hopefully keep this from happening.

Yeah, I tried to get Gruppe-S to do 100% full lock program in snow mode but they wouldn't do it. It will be nice if flash will work. I was just reading that post last night. Would you suggest full lock during launch?

I assume you haven't had any problems with the factory front LSD?

I'm taking mine to Jacks to swap the guts soon and do the upgrades on it.
