Is it ok to install stock Intake Mani w/out support bracket?

I just want to clarify if it's ok to reinstall the intake manifold without the support bracket behind that secure the IM to the block. The IM is not that heavy but not sure if vibration over time will cause a problem w/out bracket. Your input is appreciated. Thanks

For what its worth, a mechanic friend of mine wore me out over not securing the bracket on my talon's intake manifold when I rebuilt the motor. He scared me into securing it. He was insistent that it (lack of support) would cause it to warp over time. I do not know how accurate he is/was but he convinced me.

I wonder if some of the aftermarket intake manifold has the same holes for the support bracket too. But I guess it's there for a reason so it should be bolt back the same. Thanks for the input cmrs2k

I haven't had that bracked on mine for 2 years now, zero issues. It's been R&R'd twice since then too! Same mani (buschur ported), no problems.

Don't think it would be a problem without but l would rather be safe and put it back on.

Mine has been off for thousands of miles. No problems here.

Ditch the bracket and save some weight. I've had mine off for over a year and a friend of mine 2+ years.

Thanks for the replies guys. I would think that the bolts would hold the manifold in place well and also the UICP should help support it too so there shouldn't be any problem with or without the bracket. Again, thanks for the replies. Now I feel a little bit more confident to not put it back on in case I have to remove the IM in the future to have it ported.

By the way, I had my IM removed because I'm doing my clutch and I can get a lot more room to remove the top bolts esp with the ACD line in front of the far bolt.

Sort of odd to remove the IM for a clutch install. As someone who recently did it i can't imagine it helped a great amount given the work to get it off the first time.

FWIW I remove the ACD line, removed the bolt, hand tightened the acd line back to the tcase until replacement. Took about 5 min to bleed the acd when reassembled and i haven't ever sen the 3 lights of acd death.

MR Turco yes it is odd that I remove the IM for the clutch install. To me, I saw a lot of room to remove the top TC bolts. I wasn't sure if I want to port my IM but now I guess it gives me a good reason to get it ported and install it once rather than doing it later

It appears that I am on the minority side of this. I was talked in to bolting my bracket back in place on my talon. It's good to know that it isn't necessary for future reference. I'm sure I'll end up pulling the one on my evo for something eventually.
