Go 2.2 or 2.3?

Hi to all,

I am new to this forum n pls pardon me if there is a thread on this b4. I am just confuse if I should stroke to 2.2l or 2.3l. I am looking at street n circuit setup with BBk full. Pls advise. Thanks

p.s: I am currently on 2.4l ATP GT35R n find it lag n a torture to drive on street n circuit. So looking for instant spool n TQ setup.

Why not keep the 2.4 and just swap the turbo? The BBK will be so much more responsive than a 35r

confused.... you should just keep the 2.4 and swap the setup.... if you really wanted to, stroke to a 2.3 but doesn't the 2.4 and the 2.3 use a different block...

I would keep the 2.4 and use the bbk...

you may wanna look at your engine setup and see what cams and such you have in there to see if you couldn't make any adjustments in that category as well.

Also,

do you have a sheet metal intake manifold? If so, ditch that and go to a ported stock manifold...

you will gain some spool back there

Good luck...

How can a 35R be laggy on a 2.4 ltr? When my motor was 2.3 on a 35R, it was great. Even with a bad tune my 2.2 is awesome with my T4Z88HTA.

The lag is from the ATP kit not the motor.. If you think going to a 2.2 is going make it less laggy your not going to be happy.. Your turbo kit is whats laggy..

Yeah, I am a moron, I didn't even see the ATP kit, they are always known to be a bit laggier than most.

Switch to the bbk with a stock ported intake manifold and a ported manifold you should be good to go....

Thanks for all the comments and advises. My ATP turbo full boost at 5500RMP n my tuner says my 2.4l can't rev high which cuts at 7500RPM. I really miss the torque response of my Evo. Btw I am on GSC S2 n Kansai Intake Manifold.

My fren selling me his 2.2l stroker kit at a v.gd price tat I don't mind considering getting rid of my 2.4l n get his.

Anyone of you guys here had a setup like 2.2l with small turbo e.g 20G or BBK? Would like to hear from you.

If you go over to the Evo Dyno Tuning and Results sub-forum there is a current thread by Mike at AWD that features a 550WHP/550WTQ 2.4L. Evo with a BBK turbo.

i do not know what fuel you have access to their, but if you have E-85 I would say use that. Otherwise go with the 2.2/2.3 and look into a garrett gt3076 with all the trimmings. make over to mid 400 whp and will spool like a banshee. also the FP blacks have shown some promising results but will prob be to laggy for what your looking for. 3076 with E-85 or meth on a stroker is a killer street set up for sure. gl on your build and nice call mike, ATP...ehhhh
