whinning noise???

Hey everyone. I have an evo 9 se and it sounds like it has a whinning noise. when i press on the gas pedal it whines and when my mph get higher it whines even louder. Anyone know what this problem is? From the looks of it, the noise is coming from the back. Is it the rear differential that is going out or have a leak some where in the gasket, seal, or bushing? Any reply back will be a big help for me. Thanks guys.

I work at a Honda dealership and just had the pleasure ( ) of diagnosing a customer with an Evo with the death whine. Customer had no idea I owned an Evo. I talked to him a little. I was worried about my car whinging, but this was terrible. It took the "typical Evo" whine to a whole new level.

Anyway, chances are this is happening to you too. sheptrans.com will fix you up. It's a labor extensive repair and fairly costly.

So it's the transfer case? it sounded like the rear differential though? i might be wrong. It sounded like it was coming from the back? cause the transfer case is built into the trans axle. All of the four wheels are spinning fine but then just that loud noise when i speed up or push the throttle.
