problem after accident
Well, a deer t-boned me and I went off road a while ago. My fmic (oem) was replaced and my Nisei licp, which was pinched at the opening to the fmic.
Picked the car up today and a/f gauge read 20.0 and blinked the first 15 minutes or so. Then, it started working and read 14.7 while cruising on the interstate, good. Well, I give it some gas a few times and instead of dropping it goes to 17 at times, but stays mostly around 14. It doesn't seem to change with boost at all, not good.
Then I go get something to eat and get back in and it is stuck on 20.0 again and blinking and never kicks in the whole way home.
What do you guys think? Boost leaks usually lead to lower a/f ratios like 10.9 or lower. Could my gauge be faulty? The a/f gauge wasn't touched and neither was the o2 bung afaik.
Could it be a massive boost leak? I am going to baby it until I get it figured out.
I have e-mailed Mellon and hope to hear from him soon as well as Prosport, who makes my a/f gauge.
Oh and I tried to get an aftermarked fmic instead of oem, but the freaking bodyshop said they already ordered oem and claimed they couldn't return it, which I know is bs.

that can't be a boost leak. The are fuel is reading lean now. Like there is to much are causing it to lean out right? A boost leak would make it go rich because there is less air same amount of fuel. With that being said I think you have a wire short some where.
i think the same, after you check wires and it doesn't help I would change sensor

Well I drove to work last night and the a/f gauge read 'normal'. Normal, before the accident at least. It drops to 10.9 at anything over 1/2 throttle. I know I have a leak and I had one before the accident so I'm a little happier now.
I checked the licp they were suppose to fix and they didn't do shyt to it. They just tightened the hose that connects it to the fmic. That's ok I'll get it fixed now that I know the problem.

Idk man, I was driving down the interstate and the effer just ran straight in to the side of my car. Only knocked the mirror off. Scared the crap out of me so I jerked the wheel a little (with an evo we all know a little is a lot in that department) and went into a spin. I went into a kinda steep V'ed median and tore up my front bumper a little and my lip. Nothing major.

under boost you are correct, but under vacuum it will suck in unmetered air and cause it to go lean.
