clunking and pulling hard to the left...?
so i did a few dig runs today and after the 2nd run i noticed a clunking from the front. then all of a sundden it would pull hard to the left and then go away. once back to normal with the pulling issues it drives fine and shifts fine. no whinning or anything. also noticed grease on the control arms. seems like a broken front axle but they are usually the strong part of the drivetrain. any imput appreciated.
will check i out first thing tomorrow morning. i am at about 350whp , didnt think it was possible to do any damage to the axles or transfer case at this level. my buddy had a 35r evo and used to dump the clutch at 7k rpms.
ok so i pulled off the driver side axle today. i can see why they handle so much power it is one stout piece. with that said the grease appears to have been squeezed out from the boot somehow but there were no breaks or anything????? so i guess i am next to blame the transfer case.
it definatly clunks on 45 degree turns or more and feels like one wheel is not turning properly. it jitters if you will. but there is no whinning at all to point it towards the transfer case. once the car is going straight it is fine. also when it gets out of wack it still wants to pull strong to the left. anyone else with an idea or if this has happend to anyone?

aww man, I have this same problem I really hope its not the diff. I basically have a hard clunk and every once and a while it pulls to the left, I replaced the axle and still get the same sound, there is also about like 1 mm of back and forth play in the axle which I'm not sure if is normal or not? my front driver side and rear pass side have the same type of "play" in them. I'm desperately searching for a solution to this problem, anyone have any input? I also get an intermittent vibration/humming when traveling at 65mph speeds. almost sounds like a wheel bearing but it comes on and off consistently and only at high speeds.
my buddies evo had that happen after a couple of runs and it ended up being his TC. we thought it was the axle but it ended up being his TC. we had grease every where but it was the boot from his axle.
