Does this sound like a correct build??? From a new shop???
Does this sound like a correct build??? From a new shop???
Ok so I just finished all my tranny issues and got my tranny and transfer case built by John shep and went with a Exedy triple so im all set in that department. So i fgured id go all out. I have a 6262 that i wanted to install so I wanna build my motor. Now I came across one of the cleanest shops I ever seen almost CBRD clean. So any way Im pretty set on another shop doing my build that have done alot of evos before but I figured while i was there id ask what a build from them would cost. They gave me this write up and i was wondering if they are using ther right materials for this build. Any help would be appreciated. This is the exact write up they gave me so please let me know if theres any problems with it. Thanks

CBRD is one of the nicest shops out there and I wouldn't worry about the stuff they have recommended. They choose nice components for everything they do, no cheap **** from them.
I wouldn't question what they wrote up on the quote. If it's on that quote, you need it/need it done. They don't cut corners and you won't be back because of issues. CBRD's clients usually are daily drivers, so reliability is one of their main concerns. If they recommend a part, it's for a reason. Sounds like a good set up if you go through with it. Let us know how it turns out!
OP, I would go with your gut feeling and choose a shop that knows EVO's in and out. I know the few extra dollars you would save is VERY tempting, but is it worth you piece of mind.
On the other hand, if something goes wrong, it could go either way with both shops. So talk to the, get to know them, and then make your decision. Good luck with your build
Yeah this was not a CBRD I wish i was closer or it would be them. god i hate that i moved from ny lol . Its a new shop thats been around for like 2 years now . But honestly everyone there was amazing to me and like i said you could literally eat off there floors lol. They thing is that this shop is write down the block from my house . the other shop is force fed which is also new and is 2 hours away . The owner of this shop which i wont release there name unless they end up doing my build literally told me if my motor goes he will persoanlly send a tow truck to get my car and the labor will be on them . They also have a track session coming up and will pay the $350 entrance fee . I think its a pretty ****ing sweet deal . I should post up some pics of there huge shop . Iv been to AMS and CBRD and this shop rivals them haha. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Now if you want my opinion, if a shop says if your motor goes he will personally bend over backwards to fix the mess I wouldn't go to them. That tells me one thing and that is they aren't confident in their work and/or they haven't been doing it that long.
Doing your research and knowing your shops background and reputation can be the difference between dropping many bills for a great lasting setup or a paper weight with no refund.
If you want to know about your shop tell who they are and chances are you will at least get the low down on them, good or bad. Otherwise don't look first and just leap. You'll either make the jump or fall to the ground. But if it was me I don't go throwing around lots of Benjamin's without knowing who is getting them.
Regardless if your going to CBRD, the components listed all are quality pieces.

Nah man they never brought up bending over backwards . they literally told me that because I told them i didnt want a shop that was going to leave me hanging god forbid my motor goes. They assured me that they stand behind there customers 100% . Idk i just felt really confortable with them and I literally hungout all day. HAha plus the person whos doing the build is the person from my new honda hahaha

so r u saying big name shops have never blown a motor. r u saying race motors built by big name shops dont break. if u ask me i would like to know that who ever built my motor is willing to bend over backward to help me out if something goes wrong. it tells me that they are gonna do the job right the first time. i dunno about you but i turn wrenches for a living. and i would hate to do the same job twice because i cut corners the first time. but i would gladly help out someone if i worked on there stuff even if its not my fault.
Sounds like a good shop. Putting together a motor isn't rocket science. If the have a solid reputation with the few clients that they have built motors for, then that should say something. It does benefit (obviously) to go to a company that specializes in DSM/EVO motors, but again if you don't want to drive 2+ hours then this might work.
If you really want piece of mind, ask them if you could contact a couple customers of there’s, and get there feed back from them. IE: service, how there motor runs, any issues..etc
Oh and the parts they listed are solid, no cheap china there.

Quality parts, sound like you have a good feeling about it I would say do it. Worse thing that happens you'll be back and get it fixed for free. Why don't you want to say what shop? I'm sure someone here could give some type of feedback.
Believe it or not... all shops dont start from greatness
but as stated above contacting a previous customer is an excellent idea.. and if your already having them do a build then whats your problem?
the parts and process are correct..
and to some of the people commenting ALL SHOPS say they stand behind there work 100% that doesnt neccesarily mean they do.. im just sayin...
when landing a build thats a few thousand so they are going to say what it takes..
your best bet would be to check their previous work if they dont have a reputaion then its a gamble..
but since they are building your "new" honda then i would say this is a pointless thread.. your already having em do a build for you so whats another..
GL wit your decision!

I havnt found any complaints at all . Anyone who has gone there has left happy. The reason I posted this was because I wanted to make sure this build they wrote up was correct. This is a shop that has built maybe two evos before from the research Iv done. So I wanted to make sure they were using the correct parts for my build. Also where did I ever state that I was def going with them? Force Fed is doing my build as of this moment I just happened to see there shop and it amazed me thats all.
Id be more than skeptical to have a shop that has done 2 evos build my car...
Force Fed has a reputation and turns out nice cars.. just be done with it and go with them... once and done and dont have to worry about it.. alil extra money is better than a shotty build....

Edit: if I go with this shop
