Map gasket problem w/fp red
Map gasket problem w/fp red
So I was in the process of installing my Red ran into a little problem. The gasket that comes with their o2 dump is larger on the wastegate side of the hotside. Seems like it may need to be gasket matched.

In the pic above is what the gasket should look like to fit the wastegate side of the fp red. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue?? Should it be gasket matched or another gasket is necessary?

Yeah I forgot to mention I already called and talked to them about this issue. They said they haven't had this issue before. Hope they can chime in, now that I have a picture available.

Yeah, that doesn't look right at all. It should definately look more like what you've traced out.

So, what turbo were you running before you swapped to the Red? If it was the stock 16G, or a stock looking turbo, why not just reuse the gasket that was on there before? They are usually reusable. However, if you get to the point where you are totally fed up with the situation, then send me your new Red as I have a bunch of old gaskets out in the shed.

Yeah I sold the turbo as a whole allready so dont have the gasket. Map is going to take care of me though
Ok I just spoke with our Flow Expert Bob and he tells me people have asked about this before and considering the way the flapper on the turbo opens this is not going to impede the flow of air at all. Just to explain a bit more of what I told Jason on the phone the gasket does match up with the flange on the O2 housing so the gasket was not the problem and really there is no problem at all!
