Is anyone running a Thermal exhaust?

I am looking for feedback as well as pictures on the Thermal R&D catback. Yes I have done searches and found 2 angle shots, but no power gains. Thanks!

I want to hear about this system too. I had a Thermal exhaust on my Honda, and it made a ****ty engine sound good!

I am also interested in some pics and maybe some sounds bytes.

I have had two thermal exhausts before and I love the sound and design. They really did their homework on the DSM's becasue they fit PERFECT.

I have a thermal 3" on my Turbo Integra. Nice quality - I have the "stealth" option which inserts a cone in the exhaust path & makes it a little quieter. Its been there 3 years - no probs.

However I'm not sure if its a straight 3" on the evo - I believe it tapers down to the stock cat. Depends on what direction you're going in.

I use to have a Thermal on my modded GS-t great sound that only got better with a downpipe, very quiet at idle but deep and powerful at full boost(which came on faster and more powerful). I have heard people say the sound of it on a turbo eclipse and a evo are almost identical. In the DSM world Thermal R&D use to be considered the standard. Hope this helps.
p.s. A great place to find part reviews it at www.dsmreviews.com many of the parts are the same

I agree, every DSM owner that I know swears by Thermal. I am surprised that not that many people are running them on Evos. I called Thermal as well, and they told me that power gains were unavailable due to the lack of AWD dyno. They also told me that images were not available but soon will be. Does anyone have rear shots of this exhaust? Please post if you do.

So with the tapering, does that mean if you got a 3" high flow cat, the exhaust would not fit?

I remember a post about someone getting free 3'' flanges from Thermal to use with a 3'' cat or test pipe. It probably wouldn't fit with the 3'' cat.

thermal was the old school production 3" bolt-on exhaust system. i had one on my teg a while back. when i received it, i was disappointed in the "mandrel bends". there are nasty kinks around the bends so i'm guessing their mandrel bender isn't all that. i would go with ultimate racing as they use CNC mandrel bends (plus i already own it and love it) or Buschur as they seem to have a nice bender.

Kinks in the madrel bends? I have one like I said on my GSX and I think the design and the fit was exceptionaly well. The hangers lined up perfect.

I also had the neck down to match up to a stock cat. I just ordered a 3" flange and got a 4" piece of 3" stainless and mounted that on when I put on a 3" down pipe and test pipe.

But I will disagree with you in saying that Thermal is and "old school" system.

mine definitely had kinks. like wrinkles around the bends.

when i meant old school, i meant they came out a while ago.

Not saying your wrong but are you sure it wasn't a thermal muffler on a pressbent pipe?

it was a full 3" cat-back exhaust for an Integra. it wasn't crush bent like most cheap muffler shop exhausts, it just looked like a crap madrel bender. very noticable wrinkles on the inside of the bends.
