Transmission Issue (Yet again)

Ok.. I don't know what happened to the Transmission Recall "Replacement" thread.. And I'm not sure what the appropriate forum is..

However since I just got my transmission rebuilt under warranty, they told me that **THERE IS INDEED** a Service bulletin on several components in 5th gear.

this **DOES NOT MEAN** That there is a recall, however if you discover you have a 5th gear issue, it will be repaired under warranty (and possibly repaired at no charge if the car were no longer under warranty)

What I do know is there is no open recall on transmissions, and an entire replacement under warranty is ABSOLUTELY FALSE.

The good news about my transmission being repaired is its now quieter than it was, it still clunks a little just like before when shifting down into first, but its much quieter and feels a little different (better) than before.

I hope this clears this up..

This doesnt say there will never be a recall, however I spoke with my dealer and MMUSA and there is no "Recall to replace transmissions"

Apparently there is a recall on the 6 speed EUDM and JDM trannies though.

I had what sounded like a worn synchro shifting into 5th gear (basically it would "Grind" until it Synced.. If you dropped it out of 4th, the clutched, then put it in 5th, it was ok, because it was synced)

I never got a copy of the service bulleting, but they did show me the documentation of what parts were changed.. I'll post the parts and the part #'s tomorrow if I remember when I get my invoice out of the car.

If your having trouble with 1st 2nd or 3rd grinding.. That is probably due to abuse since the car has beefy synchros and gears for the first few gears. (It will grind if you don't fully disengage the clutch, if your having that sort of problem, then its possibly a throwout bearing, or the clutch line and restrictor mod would help you)

Gear mesh can be noisy if there its excessively tight, or excessively loose, it doesnt necessarily mean there is a problem. Tell your dealer to look up for "Revised parts" for the 5th gear..

It definitely feels different than it did before, even when it was working right.

Sounds about what mine was doing.. Some dealers can be nitpicky about modified cars.. My dealer is very good and knows my car isn't abused so they don't give me a hard time about anything.
