Hey guys, I've never parked a car over winter so it may be a newb question but i started up my evo after the winter today and it fired up as if i parked it yesterday on a mini battery. I wanted to let the car idle till it reached running temp so i let it run and slowly a ticking became apparent getting louder as time went on... it reached running temp and i shut it off because the ticking was getting worse. Sounds like a lifter issue but it ran PERFECT when i put it in so i don't know.. does it just need to giver a little to get the oil going and such?

any help of what this could be/how to fix it would be a great help. Or if anyone has had this happen, i think it just needs to be driven to get all the fluids circulating again.

do an oil change and see where you are at..

 

Change the oil and drive it. From doing cam installs I have noticed that the lifters don't seam to pump back up until you actually put a load on the motor

 

^^ this is what i'm thinking as well. Looked at the dip before i started it and its pretty dark/VERY dark but bought it 2 weeks before I stored it and previous owner said he just did a change. I'll do this first thing and like above said i think it needs to have a load for oil circulation.
