I'm in the same boat. After my recent revolver cam install and new springs/retainers, it only ticks when the car has load on it (in gear), in about the same RPM range. Seems to only make the ticking sound when it's completely warm and/or warm outside (65+ degree outside temps).

My 90 Talon Tsi Awd had the lifter tick and I installed the "revised lifters" with the bigger oil hole and they still tick. It was not until I poured in a very small amount of Lucas Oil Stabilizer did they stop.

Doesn't sound like lifters to me. Lifters tend to tick more when cold and at idle. Revving usually makes it go away, not cause it to happen. My old lancer would tick loudly when cold but the tick would fade when it got warmer and would usually go away if I revved past 3500 rpm.

It's often caused by a dirty bit of oil getting stuck in the lifter, and warming/revving helps push it through.
