HELP! troubleshooting boost fluctuations

I have the WORKS p2 flash, test pipe, and axle-back. Everything about the car has been perfect (even the clutch) until last week.

I was driving home at 45mph in 5th gear and go to pass somebody. The boost spikes up to 24psi and the engine bucks real hard from hitting maf/boost cut. And now ever since then The boost is spiking to 22-23 psi in 4th and 5th gears and then settling at 19 psi for the most part. Now in the first three gears it only spikes to 19psi and settles at 16-17psi.

I had the p2 on the car for about 1200 miles and the boost has been holding very steady at 19psi until the other day. I went home and reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a half hour. Went for a spin and the same issue with the boost fluctuations. I checked all the vacume lines and everything appears to be tight. Called WORKS and they have no idea what it could be. They told me to reset the ecu again and try driving conservatively until the ecu learns again. I tried that and then the first time I got on it, I hit boost cut at only 21 psi. That only happened once and hasn't happened again. It is still spiking to 22-23 on the regular in 4th and 5th.

This sucks! I have no idea what could be goin on. I need ideas fellas......thanks

You sure your boost controller line didn't fall off, or pop off? I'd check that. Sounds like you're running unrestricted boost. Very bad.

I know we've talked about turbo creep on Evo's before but could it be possible with your test pipe?

I've had the test pipe on there for 2 months with no problems at all. I was even running a mbc for a week before I got the p2. Never any fluctuation issues. It was fine one minute and then it wasn't the next and stayed that way. Very confusing.

Are you using your own boost controller or the WORKS P2 boost tube?

The WORKS equipment. I used a mbc for a week or so before I got the p2 with no ill effects.

After reading through some threads, I think I will take a look at the fat black zip tie that is used on those vacume lines. Perhaps it has shifted and is pinching one or both of the tubes? I don't know, but I can't think of any other variables.
