Stock Boost Spiking

I did a search, didnt find much so here we go. Anyway, I know the cars initially run 19.5psi then go down to 16psi. However, I installed my boost guage today and when I first nail the gas, the boost is spiking to 22-23psi, then falling IMMEDIATELY to 20, then going right down to 16.

Anyone else experience this? I only have an intake installed. (All hoses hooked up correctly). I was planning on installing my boost controller later this week with my Helix IC pipes/MR BOV. Any thoughts? Wil the MBC get rid of the spike?

Its pretty normal.. especially on a very cold day..

And yes, a MBC can address spiking within reason.. Also keep in mind that as the seasons change you'll have to adjust it slightly..

I just recently installed a manual boost controller and am disappointed. The boost goes all over the place all the time, and depending upon the weather at the time, can be drastically different as well. I tried adjusting it soooooo many times and it still will not hold, meaning that it will go to the set boost of 19psi, then be all wavy from 17-19, and will often times spike to 23 or 24!! If you can afford it, then i would definitely go with an electronic boost controller because you won't have to adjust it from season to season and it will actually HOLD the boost that you want it to.

My Hallman Pro holds boost like a champ, no spikes and no taper.

Sounds like you bought a Turbo XS when you really need a Hallman.

Are you sure it will hold because this manual boost controller with the boost jumping all over the place is driving me absolutely insane!!!!! I have a Turbosmart boost controller and a Turbosmart BOV. The BOV is awesome but the manual boost controller....WTF?!

Are you sure it's installed properly? What hoses did you use, are they new or the stock hoses?

Yea I made the Turbo XS mistake.

When I got my car tuned the guys threw it back in the lake.. i'm like wtf.

They are like "this **** doesent work"

So I wanted my car tuned at the time so they just replaced where the TXS MBC went with a real small hollow metal rod. they cut small holes in it until the boost was at a good level.

It actually held.. for a good awhile.

I eventually got a hallman though.. but the metal rod would still be working haha.
