Angry My RMR cat-back cracked!

I found this out today when i had my car up on the lift.

The Picture is crappy but the black stuff is carbon. It cracked right where the hanger connects to the pipe.

What should i do?

Has this happened to anybody else?

if there is no warranty, see if a muffler shop can tack weld the spot and then go over it with a reweld. This is why you buy big name brands: Apexi, HKS, Trust, etc.....they all have warranties and their products don't do this

it sucks that you spend $$$ and have to deal with this crap after

Don't forget Buschur, he had a problem with bad hangers on his early setups, but he fixed it free of charge. May not be a written warranty, but the mans customer satisfaction rating has to be through the roof!

now that's good customer service... it might be kinda expensive to send it back to get fixed... just go to a local meineke and have them throw a decent weld on it for you... throw the guy $20, problem solved

I think the vedor will do right by you... They should just tell you to throw the broken piece out and just send you a new part... No point to keep shipping crap back and forth incurring unnessisary cost to both the vendor and the customer.

I recieved a defective exhaust for my Galant VR-4, and rather than pay shipping to get the defective part back (they couldn't re-sell it anyway) they just sent me a new rear section. Most companies do NOT repair defective parts, they just replace them.

Let's be realistic though. Anyone can tell a company that the item they bought broke and they'd like to have a nice shiny new one sent to them instead of having to ship something back, but it sure helps to verify the problem really exists before you send a shiny new somewhat expensive item out as replacement. Don't buck the guys just because they do their warranty work just like virtually every other company around.

I am the vendor that sold him the exhaust. I can ship it back no problem if that's what is required.
It is better that they want it back, though. A company that is just throwing it out shows that they have no intention of actually examining the problem and correcting it. Sometimes a weld penetrates too much and is left a bit too weak to withstand long term vibration and abuse. It is easily corrected. I have already arranged for the owner to come in so we can re-weld it back to proper spec. I would not recommend that you send your stainless exhaust to Meineke. We have welders configured specifically for stainless so the weld does not rust.

True....I took digital pics of the defective section and sent them to the vendor now that I think about it....
