400wtq+

Apparently the 4g63 is not good for this amount on a Mustang Dyno so I wanted to know if I would be safe with Carillo rods and Cosworth pistons on a 2.0L. If that is overkill what setups are you guys running?

I'm sort of set on Carillo rods but just can't pick a piston.

it's always a good option in my book to have a solid foundation, don't really think it can be 'overkill' to build a decent shortblock. Build it once and you won't have to worry about it down the road.

How do you figure the 4G63 is not good for 400wtq? Lots of daily drivers out there with 400-450wtq. Not saying you shouldn't do a motor build I'm simply saying if your "only looking for 400ish wtq I wouldn't build it until you have evrything else out of the way.

400wtq on a mustang dyno is a LOT. That said I have TOO much money in my head for me to ruin it on a blown motor. I'd much rather bulletproof my setup than be ****ed and have to pay another $14k for a long block + modifications again. It's just the cheaper route to go.

Yeah, your buddy definitely has better luck than I do. How many miles?

every car is different just cause your friend is doing it does not mean we all need to exceed 420tq on stock internals. I personally think you have to be a idiot to do that but lot of folks do let them be on borrowed time then

I made 440tq with my 2.3L.. Then a month later my crazy friend made the same on his stock motor. He's really pushing it

Ryu I think you are the exception.....not the rule. While its encouraging to see where you've taken your car and where you want to go with it, but suffice it to say most of what you accomplished goes against most of the conventional wisdom found here and at other shops.

That being said; I will be taking my car to the ragged edge of reliability praying I don't fall over. If I do then a build 2.0 is in the future if I don't then I will be one of the so called ticking timebombs
