S2s require a little love to make idle but its far from difficult. Tune will need 10-12* at idle, open loop idle with the AFR around 13.5-14.0 and adjust the BISS. If its SD or going to be, that greatly improves idle quality. Depending on where the idle tables are currently set it might not be too much more than playing with those when the coolant temp is low.

Hmm Ill have to play with this. Im running 14* now at idle and have tried closer to 12... I cant remember if that was better or not though. Open loop idle though hmm.. During cold startup conditions I thought the car was already in open loop to help warm the car up faster? or do I have that backwards? Also you mention AFR around 13.5-14 is that table value or actual AFR readings? Id assume it was actually AFR readings. Are these values also ok after proper engine temp is achieved? Because the car will still be in open loop even after warm up if you force the tables to a low load value at idle right? By tables i mean the open loop load tables..or am i going about this wrong?

Thanks for the info!

The car stays in open loop just long enough for the O2 to warm up and start working and then goes to closed loop. The thing is it could be really lean when its in open loop and that doesnt help.

The 13.5-14.0 oddly coincides with the table values normally, but yes I was meaning the actual WB AFR. If it idles in open loop when warmed up its still going to idle better.
