Removing acd system and installing non acd transfer case

Was wondering if anyone has done a delete of acd on Evo 9? Try searching but didn't yield any usable results.

MY GUESS would be to install the Mechanical 50-50 Ralliart unit for drag racing? Maybe he wants to put in a welded one for drag racing.

I've done it to my 05. It's just less trouble and weight, don't have to worry about the pump failing, etc. I've never noticed/used it so an 03 transfercase was cheaper and lighter...I sold the ACD case to recoup some money. My motor/tranny/case were already out of the car though. To do all this simply to change t-cases would be pointless I think. I only did it because everything was already out of the car.

Replacing the ACD t-case with the non-ACD is pretty much a necessity when removing the whole ACD pump, lines, etc. Previously I had just topped off the ACD t-case with ATF fluid and sealed it shut (where the ACD hard line connects). It worked just fine in a straight line, but since the ACD was now stuck in it's one position, the car wouldn't handle well at all. Swap the t-case for a non-ACD one and just rip out all the pump lines, etc. Idk about the ACD ECU, but I ripped that out too. Idk if that will work though if you still have the stock ECU. Worked fine with the AEM EMS.

drag racing. Plus, it's cheaper to get a new non acd t/c from shep tran. 350 -/+ might not be a lot of money but it's enough for one tuning session or racing gas

Yea, it boggles my mind about issues with the stock ecu as well. Hence, I'll like to get more information about this project. Maybe someone has or knows a link or website or some other forum that has a how-to/tutorial.

Non ACD with the helical front LSD is the way to go.

Welding=bad in our cars, DSMs are different animals.

The White Evo, Lukes, Mine, Jakes, BigJesse's, etc. all use the 04 RS "style" case. Its weight reduction and in my opinion the car handles better since the power application is more predictable. My car definitely doesnt push as bad now that it is non-ACD.

Yes, the non-ACD is much better, and the RS one, although a bit more expensive from Mitsu, is the best IMHO. E-mail Shep, Dogbox, or TRE.

Well you can take any non-acd and make the RS T-case is what I am saying. If the front LSD in your old case isnt hammered you can drop it in an 03-04 open diff case and end up with the same thing.

How did the case break?

I have thought about doing this but my question is..How do your acd lights appear on the dash after this is done? I know it seems stupid but I dont want all 3 lights to be on or something like that. Would bug the hell out of me.

all 3 lights stay on when problem with the ACD system. My fusible link main fuse popped (ACD fuse) on top of the battery and all 3 lights stay lit. I think I will remove all the ACD crap and just put in 03' parts when the time comes

This is getting frustrating so I might just stick with acd for now. Got the death whine so I thought about picking up a used non-acd t/c for the moment but might just wait it out and buy a new one (acd) from shep with the quaife lsd. Thnks for the inputs.
