First and foremost congratulations to Mike Reichen and his team for an amazing accomplishment out at the Maxton Mile! We are glad to see our old friend turn his luck around and show the real potential on his little 4 door monster. Mike has been a pioneer in the standing mile racing for Mitsubishi’s as he was the first EVO to break the 200 mph barrier way back in 2007. We have been following Mike’s progress and for this reason we decided to give this racing a shot. After we took the AMS GTR and 996 last year we were hooked!
For those who don’t know about Mike he must be one of the most dedicated guys in the sport. Not only does he drive the car he tunes it and a lot of the time wrenches on the car also. He has been racing with the 4G63 engine for 10 years now and has always had the reputation of pushing parts to the limit and being very abusive to his cars. We should know because we used to sponsor his Talon drag car and he all but wiped out our supply of transfer cases back in the 2003 season!
When Mike stopped drag racing (for the most part) back in 2007 he started focusing on standing mile and he found his calling. It has been inspiring to watch Mike constantly improve his speeds over the years with trial and error and pure perseverance. He really made all Mitsubishi owners proud when he won the Hot Rod magazine Top Speed Challenge a couple years ago. What an upset for the V-8 guys!
We don’t want to take anything away from Mike but since our car was brought into discussion we do plan on fixing our shop EVO and bringing it back out to the Mile. We learned a lot our first time out and can’t wait to give it another shot. As Mike would tell you this mile racing is very addictive…
Mike has been a friend of AMS since we opened our doors and this could not happen to a better guy. Way to go buddy!!

Kosei K1's are what's on Mike's car. I think it's cool that there are two EVO's to do battle this year. Not only with each other, but against the Exoitc$, Twin Turbo V8's, and the displacement, wheelbase advantaged Supra's as well. It will definitely draw more interest to both cars and standing mile competition as well.

It won't be tomorrow but it will happen.
I'm sure mike will be the first to share that there is a lot of things that are very particular strain and load pertinent to the challenge of the standing mile that are not reached in other forms of racing.
AMS is new at this but they seem to be fast learners

Congrats to Mike.. He is the WORLDS FASTEST EVO hands down.. Id love to see him take out the Gallardos and Ford GT.. That would be sick..
Mike is faster at Maxton than an 1800hp E85 Viper that used to be 1 of the quickest door slammers..Now thats pretty funny..
