You are exactly correct. The VIIIs and the IXs are completely different animals. The Kelfords are better in the VIIIs and the S2s are better for the IXs. GSC has the best MIVEC cams on the Market. Hell a S2 will make 20+hp over a Cosi M3. That is just plain impressive and that has been proven by ER a few times.

The OP has a IX so he sould be getting S2s. Period!

That test is fairly old now. GSC has revised the S2 cams since then and they perform much better. Most agree the new S2's outperform the Kelford 272s for the VIII. The new GSC S2's for the VIII are now 274/274 cams, among other changes.

For the IX, the winner will still be the S2 as well. The best MIVEC cam on the market.

So, take your pick.

I would do a lot more research on cams. The GSC S2 Mivec cams ( IX only) were part of a cam core BATCH failure that has cost many of us an entire new engine. At least some of the other cam manufacturers stood behind their products by replacing or refunding the cams that either had broken (failure always in the mivec groove), or that were of the same core stamp and replaced the cams with a properly cut and machined core.

All of this information is availible by searching Evom here.

Best of luck,

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Greg (GSC) use the same cores as Robert (FP)?

not unless GSC has changed cores. (which they may have).

My point is: FP WILL honor any issue or breakage with cams. Will GSC?
