600+whp goal? What would it take?

Hey,

I first was looking into getting a stock turbo upgrade like the Red/Black, but then started looking into the T3 ETS kits, etc. I know that once the car reaches about 400wtq the stock motor is in red zone. There is a local shop that is offering engine rebuilds. I would like some feedback on whether it is a good deal or not please:

http://www.jackstransmissions.com/co...engine-rebuild

Also, would I have to go T3 with this rebuild, or can I just go with Black? I've heard that the Black will top out at around 600whp.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

*EDIT* I will also be running E85 not the crappy 91oct in the Springs

If you plan on running 600hp+ I would go with an HTA3586 or PT6262 setup.

The black will make the 600hp mark at high boost.. But, I can't say for how long. I wouldn't recommend running a stock frame turbo at high boost for a daily driver.

The T3 frame turbo will have good spool, ball bearing and not choke on the top end. You will make the same power at much lower boost then the stock frame turbo.

You might contact Tobz in CO for a good rebuild

Thanks!

Michael

i would DEF look into a HTA86 TS kit like we just installed on a customer car should EASILY make 600 on pump gas and well over 700 on E85 with ridiculous spool up for the size of the turbine/compressor so far 30psi by 4700 without being tuned

I can't wait for the final results on that setup.

Car is back running. Everything should be ok in a day or so and we will get on the dyno. I will give you a call when we are on the rollers Mike

another thing to consider with the fpblack and your rebuild is, are you going to go with a 2.3/4L or stay 2.0L ? Stock frame turbo's work very well with the stroked motor. Making 600 is possible with the fpblack, but would be a lot easier with a 2.3L stroke. I'm personally going with a dbb PT6262 with a .82 ar

True. Our fpblack shop car broke 600hp at 28-29 psi on a 2.4. Another option is the HTA82. Fast spooling with the potential for 700+. We have our shop car on the hta82 up to 750 right now.

Although I've contemplated a 2.4 setup, I think I am going to stick with the 2.0.

2.4L with a Twin Scroll 3586 would be baller status, talking 30psi by 4.2k! Look at ETS's new twinscroll 3586 T3 kit Still waiting for results so I can buy it and make 700 daily.
