Rocker arm fell out

The exhaust rocker arm today came off on cylinder #3. I was just pulling out into the main street in my neighborhood and felt the loss in power. I drove it back and pulled the spark plugs thinking maybe it was bad plugs. It wasn't so i did a compression test. Turned out to be 0 in #3 and 185 in the rest. Next was removing the valve cover and i find a rocker arm lying at the bottom. Looks like the valve tip is about 3mm shorter than its other paired exhaust valve. So i'm guessing that its bent. The head was rebuilt a year ago (supertech valves/springs/guides). I put about 2000 miles on it since the rebuild. Any idea's on what would make this happen?

Yes i did. I had the whole motor out during the rebuild for the bottom end. I used new bearings and PE kevlar timing belt. I thought it might have been a lifter problems but it was still "firm" and i bled and cleaned it out. If the timing belt jumped, i assumed that it would have taken more of the rockers out. Even the slightest hint of binding during cranking would have been sure indication of a jumped belt but it didn't and compression was good for the rest.

What springs are in the head? They can wear out.

And what cams? Those springs might be your problem. I have no direct experience with them, only heard rumors of them fatiguing and causing float.

I was going to suggest a collapsed lifter because it sounds like you had just started the car and weren't winding out where float should be an issue but, it sounds like you've already looked at that.
