Some people are way too sensitive.

Badwrx, I am not going to get into a name calling match with you on this board, it is obvious from your posts in this thread that you do not have a clue about how the CT9A's active driveline works ... or its integration with the manual transmission. This info has been posted on this site numerous times. If you did not like the manner in which I corrected you, you need not have resorted to name-calling. This is a level to which grown men should not sink to.

I have a problem with people that post erroneous information as fact... if that makes me ****... well that's your opinion.

Have a nice day.

BTW, Jemm, are you sure the centre diff is located in the transfer case? I'm not as familiar with the later Evos, but on the earlier ones the centre diff is in the gearbox itself. The transfer just converts the drive from transcerse to longitudinal.

I was not going to say anything about those Third World comments. Yes I am from the Third World, I don't see that as a bad thing. Countries such as Jamaica, Barbados, Cayman etc, have been racing & tuning Evos and Wrxs long before they ever came to the states. Does this fact belittle the contribution of the American enthusiasts? Does it mean that we know more?

No

In fact the DSM, US Evo & Wrx community has made extremely valuable contributions, especially with respect to high HP tuning and drag racing. The sport compact arena is a better place because of their efforts.

Just ignore the idiots, Jemm. We know you the scoop about Evos... Thanks for the RS tranny correction, btw. I was certain that was something I had read.

Hi Wreckleford, yeah its outside of the gearbox proper now. When rotated the engine post Evo 3, it was changed.

1. 4th gear
2. 3rd - 4th synchronizer
3. 3rd gear
4. Transmission case
5. Clutch housing
6. Clutch release bearing retainer
7. Input shaft
8. Output shaft
9. Front differential
10. ACD Clutch housing
11. Transfer cover
12. Piston
13. Transfer hydraulic case
14. Hypoid pinion
15. Center differential
16. 1st gear
17. 1st - 2nd synchronizer
18. 2nd gear
19. 5th gear
20. 5th - reverse synchronizer
21. Reverse gear
22. Reverse idler gear

EDIT : #5 was mislabelled. corrected.

THanks Chris , If I can make a contribution in return for what I have learned from you guys on this site, I am happy to!
In retrospect, my earlier posts on this thread may have come across as arrogant & harsh. If it did, then I must apologise as that was not my intention. This does not excuse badwrx's comments.

Lets get back to the topic!

now don't bite my head off. but so u guys are saying that i will need a new transfer case and new rear diff for the 6 speed trans. and is there really another 5 speed trans from the rs evo8 that has closer ratios then our us one? i don't know y everybody is complaining about the us 5speed tranny. i think the ratios are pretty damn close for a turbo car. when i had a wrx no that ratio sucked *** and that tranny was trash. subaru

Is there any identification number on the transmission assembly that can be viewed?

Hi folks, i just got a reply from the dude that wanted to put one in his E6 :

Hi,

I really didn,t follow it up because i found out the Viii used the same housing as the 4, 5, 6, and 7,...The gears are slightly smaller and so the box is not as strong .

I heard people in Japan were breaking them and i didn,t want to compromise realiability for little gains.

I do know the conversion is possible but nobody has rushed to do it for the reasons i outlined above. I hope this helps you.

There are some posts in this thread from Claudius, who contacted Extreme UK about this possibility... and they said it can be done.

I hope this helps..

Hi, you won't need the rear diff or the transfer case if you are using a ct9a chassis car. The super-close ratio box in the Evo 7 RS is the closest ratio box. As Mister2zx3 posted, the ratios in your box are the same as the e7gsr. Take a look at this list of ratios :

Personally, I think all we need to make this a reality is to find a tranny rebuilder with ***** who's willing to put 6 speed internals inside our 5 speed cases. This way, you don't have to worry about ACD or AYC or any of that fancy stuff, get to keep the VC center diff and LSD rear and it's a fresh rebuild.

I approached Shepard Racing about it and he said he didn't understand why I would want something like that and I got the impression he didn't want the project, so the search continues...
