PTE 6262 BB vs FP Black

I want to know the pros and cons of these two turbos. From what I can find, the black should be good for 600+WHP and the 6262 can put out 700+ but what RPM does it take to hit full spool or boost on 2.1 or 2.2? The cost is another thing to think about, A new T3 setup is going to cost me $3500+ and I can send my Red in and have it turned into a Black for $750 + another $250 to have it installed. Now keeping that in mind, I would make back $1800 or so on my current setup. So I would only be out of pocket about $1300 for the T3 setup.

So get a whole new T3 6262 BB Setup and spend about $1300

or

Upgrade the Red to a Black and be about $1000 out of pocket.

Right now my car is my DD and I have no plans on changing that. I don't care about lag because it help me save on gas. I will be running either setup on e-85 only and look to put down 600/600 with a 2.1 or 2.2 build. Last year I put 26k on my Evo and plan on doing about 20k or so this year.

Go FP Black. The Black will be great on a LR2.2 and will have no problem making 600/600 on E85. The 6262 can do that as well but it is $$$ and will be 1k rpms more lag than a Black. Why would you want lag, if you are worrying about saving fuel sell the evo or keep your foot out the gas!

Here is a good FP Black dyno on E85 2.4L. His car still has room. It needs a dump and would be at 650 https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...omparison.html

Im also in favor for the black unless you want massive power and the lag to match it. save the money and go on vacation!

I can send my Red in and have it turned into a Black for $750

i paid about $500.00 to convert to BLACK

You can install yourself or learn to do it, specially being a DD.

Go FP Black. I have it and it hits hard and is a great all around turbo. Once my block/head is built, not much will be able to touch it. Street or strip.......

Maybe its just me but it seems every fp black turbo I hear about is running 35psi or more on E85 to make good power. How long does one expect the turbo to last at that boost level? The pt6262 has proven to be a good 93 octane turbo making excellent power at 25psi or so (500whp or more). Im just saying I dont see the average person who isnt sponsored doing anything amazing on a fp black like everyone tries to make it seem. There are tons of videos of people running 9s with the black but its only people with deep pockets like awdmotorsports etc. Give me a 6262 anyday so I can run pump 93 octane and trap 133mph like i did in the past!

This is gonna turn into a power vs lag thread etc etc. Im into high revs and top end in just not sure the black can do that. I rather a turbo that pulls nicely to 9k than one thats lacking in that department. Have any fp blacks running straight 93 octane only trap 133 in a full weight car?

Again maybe im wrong but let me know

I'm really thinking the 6262, I may need to get a new setup but the Black is pretty much maxed out at 36 PSI and 600WHP here is Denver because of the altitude. If I want more HP then that at some point, I'll need to go bigger again. I'll have room with the 6262 to add more power if I want too!
