Question What retainers to run w/ GSC beehive springs?

http://www.maperformance.com/gsc-pow...retainers.html

So I've been doing some research on which springs and retainers I should buy with the Kelford 272 cams. I've been reading alot of awesome things about GSC springs, but my problem is that I cant really find any info about which retainers are best paired with these springs.

Stock retainers won't work with a beehive spring.

From MAP website:The GSC Beehive spring is a factory replacement and will use your stock OEM retainer and Valve Seat to ensure an easy install.

*Max lift on stock Retainer is 11.4mm at the valve or .259" cam lobe lift.*

From what I've and based on the note on MAP website, you "can" run them with stock retainers, but its not recommended if your running 272 cams.

I have hks 272 with GSC beehive springs, no problem at all
From what I know, the stock retainers are lighter then most aftermarket retainers.

Interesting... Is that what's important when it comes to retainers, weight?

On a side note, I heard some people talking how the Kelford 272 cams are a bit more intense on the valvetrain then most 272 cams, and that's why they require spring upgrade, where as some 272 cams dont. I have no knowledge of the HKS cams some i'm sure how the compare as far as spring upgrade requirements.

There was a thread a while back where a guy used a stock retainer with Cosworth springs and it damaged the retainer.

Actually you must run beehives on the stock retainers. FYI stock springs are a beehive design. They are NOT straight springs.

Well the GSC springs are designed for the stock retainers, so I'm hoping they wouldn't damage the stock retainers.
