Cams - 84k on the engine?

I was wondering would there be a big risk on upgrading cams on my Evo 8? it has been 84k miles. Its been stock its whole life, and very well taken care of, received all required maintenance.

I was thinking about the FP4r cams, or even the hks 280s. If I am not mistaken, I can still use the stock springs for the hks 280s, right?

Stock springs with the 280's is just fine. The motor should also be okay for the cam upgrade.

with 280s hks - you can still use stock springs, just change your head studs with arp.

are the hks good cams? I want to upgrade to a fpblack in the near future. Would these be recommended cams with that turbo?

They'll work though Kelford 272's and the GSC s2's are pretty much the standard in EVO cams these days.

Both recommend the useage of upgraded valve springs though

I'm running GSC S2s with a built head, 102k on the bottom end and counting.

HKS cams have seen their days, I'd honestly look at what GSC and Kelford have to offer.

No need to change the headstuds, I don't why people are crazy about chaning headsutds in evo, it's dsm problems not evo.
