Mikey's LR2.4 MIVEC 10:1 Motor Build

***** UPDATE. BREAK-IN DYNO GRAPH IS ON PAGE 11, POST NUMBER 433. *****

***** UPDATE. New Dynos here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ml#post8451707

As most of you guys know we have been working on my motor build for the past 3 months. There has been a lot of devoted time, money, and debates put into my motor. Since everyone has known about my build for the past few months I decided it was probably about time for me to do a motor build thread

We started with a few goals in mind... Mikey likes power, revs, spool, women, and drives the **** out of his car. So we put our heads together and decided to build the best 2.4L possible that will give me the broadest powerband, the best spool, and without limiting revs to much. The end result, which I think everyone already knows; is the English Racing Long Rod 2.4L MIVEC 10.3:1 motor.

Each component of the build was hand picked and some designed for a specific reason in mind and to enable an amazing working combo above all else. Here is the list of parts:

ER MIVEC 2.4L Long Rod 4G64
ER ported/decked MIVEC cylinder head (Thanks to Jeff Bush)
ER modified MIVEC Cam Gear 33*
AEM Exhaust Cam Gear
Power Enterprise 1.2mm Head Gasket
Kiggly Racing valve springs
Kiggly HLA Oil Pressure Regulator
Custom Wiseco HD 10:1 pistons (87mm / 1.13CH)
ACL Race Main Bearings
Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit
GSC 156mm I Beam rods
GSC custom cams (Thanks Greg)
MilSpec 65mm TB (Thanks Abby)
Magnus v5 cast intake manifold (ported)
FP Black (Thanks Robert)
w/ R/TErnie modified housing & compressor cover (ported)
FP 25psi Shortened Wastegate Actuator
AMS Race Oil Pan
R/TErnie Stock Exhaust Manifold (Modified/ported)
R/TErnie vband 3" 02 Housing w/ 2.25" dump
R/TErnie Modified vband downpipe
Black 3" Apexi N1 test-back w/test pipe (no res)
ER 4" Intake no MAF w/ K&N 9" Filter
Omnipower 4 bar MAP sensor
ETS 3.8" Garrett FMIC
ETS Short Route UICP
ETS LP2 LICP
FP RacePipe (j-pipe)
TurboSmart RacePort 50mm BOV
SpoolinUp COP Ignition (Thanks for the custom kit Matt)
4 Piece Torque Solutions Motor Mounts (Thanks for the hookup Jay)
Exedy Triple Plate w/ lightweight flywheel
ER Built VIII 5 Speed
AEM TruBoost EBC Gauge
AEM Wideband AFR Gauge
AEM Oil Pressure Gauge
AEM Meth Kit (1000cc)
FIC 1450cc Injectors
Perrin Fuel Rail
Dual Walbro 255s w/ boost activation switch
Stock ECU Speed Density
Omni 4 Bar Map Sensor
v7 w/ dual map tps switching (92oct & E85)
*** Debating about adding Aquamist 1000cc of meth to the equation as well ***

I'm sure I am forgetting a few things but that is the gist and the things that matter. Looks like we are just waiting for the Black to arrive from Robert, Cams from Greg, and the MIVEC mod on the cam gear to be finished. We expect the car on the rollers within a couple of weeks

I would personally like to thank Aaron and the rest of the ER team along with Eric (R/TErnie) for doing a lot of the "engineering data" and math to determine what can physically be done. Not to be forgotten, thank you for all the special modifications that my car has Thank you Robert for letting me pick your brain for days at a time and for making me an amazing turbo while allowing me to see what my car is capable of with the FP Black. Also thank you Mike (AWD) for sitting up late at nights and chatting and going out of your way at work to speak with me when I call bugging you

On the Dyno. You can really hear the FP Black scream.

Thanks for the vid Thomas!

Well I finally made it to the track!

Car was spinning pretty bad 1st-3rd. My 18x8 wheel with 225/45 tires were killing me. I should be getting new wheel and tires soon and be back to the track. I'm happy with what it did considering it was spinning a great deal.

Stock IX for now, but not for long. My mod list in June will be Shep t-case with 4.11 gears and replace a sync in the tranny. Also with some fat rims/tires. I'm going to need them with me going to the moon and back on my motor.

I'll be posting a few of the mods we made to my Magnus v5 and the 02 housing. Aaron has all the other pics since my car is at the shop. He should be throwing up pics shortly

Launching will destroy the t-case before the dyno. Should hold up for now

I'm having problems getting the pics the right size, and they are all in different formats. I took photoshop in college and now I cant do something easy.

Awesome build... Any news on the GSC "secret" cams? I have a 2.3L built stroker and wondering if this would be a viable option versus the MIVEC S2s.
