Noise when throttle is off

Hello guys, I need help.
this is my set up

2006 stock 9, 70k.

Car accelerates well, drives well, but when I am on the highway, and I take my foot of the throttle, I hear a noise. The noise can only be described as kind of "grinding". If I accelerate the noise goes away, if I disengage the clutch, the noise goes away. Time for a new clutch?

Thanks.

Are you original owner? The only thing I can think of is (if you aren't the original owner) is a twin plate clutch that chatters.

it's transmission noise. Normal, nothing to worry about.

If it changed when you tip the throttle in and out and seems like its coming from the center of the car, you might have a problem with your transfer case.

throw out bearing possibly. if it "grinds" in neutral when in park and you press in the clutch and goes away it should be the t.o.b.

Thanks for all the replies:

I am the original owner, I got her with a total of 7 miles on her, and yes, that was a very good day.

It does not seem to come from the center of the car, if I am hearing it right, it comes from the front right side. Only when I am above 70'ish, and I let the throttle go, and I begin to decelerate . The minute that disengage the clutch and let her "coast", or accelerate, the noise goes away.

When I first bought the car, the dealer said that the clutch would have to be replaced by 50k, was he BS'ing? At 70k, should I start thinking about a new clutch?

Thanks

Your clutch wear depends heavily on your driving habits. If you have been nice to the car it whole life and it's still mostly stock, you probably still have some life on it. maybe as much as 20k. If you change it before it starts to slip you will save yourself a lot of money on replacing your clutch cover and flywheel.

As long as the clutch isn't slipping, you dont need to replace it.

There is always slop in the gears. When decelerating the wheels drive the engine and then the engine drives the wheels. In other words, nothing to take up the slop. Normal.
