Well I took the Evo to the track tonight.

1st run: Stock clutch slipped like a **** thru 1st and 2/3 of the way thru 2nd. Ran a 2.2xx 60' time and 13.54 @ 105.70 this at 19.5 to 20 psi.

Let the car and clutch cool for about an hour and a half then decided to try it again

2nd Run: Launched like an old lady, no clutch slip, ran a 2.4 60' time, and ran 13.45 @ 106.1 mph.

I let the car cool about about 30 minutes before taking my final run

3rd Run: Launched like an old lady with some SPIRIT: Had about 20.5 psi boost pressure in 3rd gear.

60': 1.9998
330 ft: 5.4230
1/8 (ET): 8.2858
1/8 (mph): 85.97 mph
1/4 (ET): 12.8938
1/4 (mph): 107.4 mph

The car feels super smooth and super strong. Stock clutch is a big hinderance to performance, well at least for me.

I am very happy with the MPH for only having a turboback exhaust, HKS Super Mega flow, filter only, Greddy Profec B, and Dynoflash. I have an HKS AFR, but it is zeroed out and is not in use. And was using only 93 octane gas, fullweight, nothing removed at all. I think a low 12 or high 11 is obtainable with this setup and a good clutch. I plan to get one soon. BTW, I forgot to set my Intercooler sprayer, so that didn't even spray at all.

Dyno figures to come hopefully in the next week or two.

Thanks Big Al.

WOW!! Very nice run man ! I particularly like the speed increase you are getting in the back 1/8th - very decent power fro a $225 through the mail flash !

The 12 second range is a great result with a 1.99 60'

For comparison, with 463 whp my car - when I bogged my launch at the DSM shootout final ran a 2.4 60' and ran a 12.79 at 117 mph (at least thats what I recolect)

This data shows me you are making about 300 whp which is a very decent result with a simple $225 through the mail flash !(did I mention that already!)

Sorry you are needinga new clutch ! But when you get a decent one you will be approaching 12.2 and 110 mph - at least thats my prediction if you can get a 1.65 60' time

Thanks Al.

I think 12.2 @ 110 mph is a good guess on 93 octane. I think that I can run some race gas and turn the boost up some and be able to hit high 11's. I know I can get 1 .6x 60' time with the Evo, becaue I used to do it in my 2G DSM. Little more boost, race gas, and remove spare tire, and I think I can get there. Still running the stock BOV, I wonder if that is a problem? Is definitely the best $225 you can spend on an EVO, IMO.

Man - you didnt even take out the spare!!!!!

You need the race gas for sure - reset the ecu and pour in some leaded race fuel on an otherwise empty tank - lower your f tires down to 20.0 psi and make sure you turn in dem rear view mirrors!

With a decent clutch set up you would be killing dem STI's BIG time !

way to go - you made my day for sure

BTW - for anyone interested - we offer this hot tune for guys with the HKS air filter or suction kits - a boost controller and exhuast - this dyno flash makes 20 - 25 whp on those cars THROUGH THE MAIL for only $225.00. We are able to turn up the wick a bit on cars with the HKS kit through the mail becuase they are super consistant and we have seen identical dyno charts on cars with the above set up a few times in a row

Nope. I left the spare in, mirrors out, 1/2 tank of 93 octane, tires at full pressue to keep from getting to much grip, trying to spin a little to save my clutch, but didn't work to well. It was pretty cold out last night I don't know if the IC sprayer would have helped any or not. Al, do you think that I might need a upgraded fuel pump at this power level?

A walboro 255 lph pump can not hurt - it may make the mixture slightly richer up top - but that is a good thing !

Well if its not needed yet., then I won't bother with it yet. That is another $100 towards my new clutch. I am running pleny rich enough on top, still, no worries yet at least by the O2 voltage that I am seeing.

A suggestion - next time use a scan tool as you change the mixture and see if the ign timing changes as you make it richer

With stand alones - I generally get the turbos to spool faster with a lot less fuel to make heat quickly

The stock evo ecu is a big monkey wrench in conventional tuner theories
Yea I need to log and see if timing is bumped when I richen it out. Another way up doing it is just leave the MAF alone at those RPM points and retard ignition a tad.. I rather just splash it with fuel. Yea it doesnt make sense, leaner = hotter = more exhaust to spool up the turbo...

What kind of advance should I be seeing during pre spool? 2500-3500

I usually only see around 5 or 6 advance RIGHT after I wood it. Thats low with the DSM guys, but Shiv says its normal... I dunno

My ending advance is perfect, I just need to clean up the lower rpms.

You are starting to see why piggy back tuning is ess than optimal - just becuase your piggy back says "X" doesn't mean that is what your car is getting

You have to know what your car is running to the coils - NOT what your piggy back is telling you

For my advance though, Im using just a regular OBDII scan tool, pocketlogger in fact. Gives me a nice log of RPM vs Timing advance. Works great for me and majority of dsmers

I've got an OBD2 pocketlogger too.... I see that every time that the TPS goes up and the revs go up, my timing goes down What's up with that? Does that mean that the ECU is seeing detonation and pulling the timing back?......
