I am looking at buying a second 2003 evo i own an 2006 IX SE. The 03 is cammed and thats about it... turbo timer and misc. things... My 2006 has TBE, Intake, Tuned. The 2003 is not nearly as fast which im guessing it isnt tuned maybe but in 3rd and 2nd at WOT it flashes "CEL" and it isnt solid just driving around so there is only soft codes thrown when your WOT at peak Power... what would be the major ones to look for? would knock throw that cel?

It is pretty nice only 71k and am looking to buy another one so please just help me out all you can? also what would stock Evo 8 rims cost?

 

sounds like it might have a tephra mod done to the ecu. when you hit knock the cel light flashes.

 

prolly knocking cause it has a tune and the parts were swapped back to stock.

The light is flashing cause its seeing knock. Stock rims will prob cost you around $800.

 

Thanks guys! I decide to pass on this one cause I am 100 percent it had other mods, its just a dead give away under the hood but I was thinking knock was causing cel but with a tune on a lot more power it shouldn't see knock now cause all that power is gone but it definitly could cause it

Also I don't think people do cams and cam gears before any other mods and I don't like modded cars that I don't know what else they had or who owned it and I'm guessing by the way it drove it probably had a hard life but it was my first 8 so maybe they drive different than a 9 but I doubt it

i bought my car with only 280 comp cams and exhaust, and mine does the exact same thing. i dont feel anything from it but it still freaks me out
