people with anodized tial wastegates

so my sweet sweet purple tial wastegates have turned to a not so sweet pink color after the last high speed autox (1 mile course, speeds in excess of 90 mph, 20 runs).

anyone else experience fading of the anodizing after getting some heat into them?

Any anodizing will change color with extreme heat.
Turbo manifold temperatures sometimes reach excess of 1,700 deg F......

It's not a problem with a certain brand, anodizing just isn't meant for extreme heat.

geting colored wastegate are stupid because they will always fade because of the heat. I have red tiwl 44mm wastegates on my full race manifold and they are faded to pink or a dull red. That only took about 3-5k off street miles with no racing involved.

I talked to the guys at Tial and they said they can be safely powder coated. my red ones are also pink. I was lucky and had a twin scroll so I can swap them and the faded parts is just on the part facing the sun.

I wanted it purple or black but would have had to wait on them. Now I'm super glad I got it in polished.

^+1 on the silver ones. How bout on the tial mvr that's water cooled? I bought one for my honda build. Anyone experienced fading with those? I figure they might stay a little cooler being water cooled.

Yeah, I agree that in the OP's case, pink may be nice! Don't be at issue with your pink wastegates. As a practical matter, a gate's color tonality or inclination is nothing to be ashamed of. I mean really now! Maybe you were just meant to have pink and you are just now becoming aware of this change. So, the gate's new color maybe a good sign for you as well. Embrace pink.
