Clutch, I am about to buy one
WORKS now offers 3 stages of clutch upgrades for the EVO as well as a lightweight flywheel.

Description: Making power is one thing...getting it to the ground is another. WORKS’ new line of clutch upgrades for the EVO 8 is now available to help ensure that the extra power offered by WORKS’ engine performance products is finding its way to the pavement or dirt.
WORKS Clutch Kit C1:
Ideal for the street-level enthusiast with basic bolt-ons seeking a clutch with stock pedal feel but with extra holding power. Not recommended for drag race applications.
- High performance street system
- Holding capacity: 75% over stock
- Super-Duty reinforced pressure plate with unique pressure ring design
- Sprung disc with steel backed organic friction material
Comes complete with:
- Pressure Plate
- Clutch Disc
- Throw-out Bearing
- Alignment Tool
Price: $649.00 each
Availability: Now
WORKS Clutch Kit C2:
Ideal for the weekend Road Race, Drag Race, AutoX and/or RallyX driver looking for additional holding power beyond the Clutch Kit C1. This set-up will increase pedal stiffness.
- Heavy-duty street & racing system
- Holding capacity: 115% over stock
- Super-Duty reinforced pressure plate unique pressure ring design
- Sprung disc steel backed Carbon/Kevlar staggered design
Comes complete with:
- Pressure Plate
- Clutch Disc
- Throw-out Bearing
- Alignment Tool
Price: $869.00 each
Availability: Now
WORKS Clutch Kit C3:
The Twin-Disc design is ideal for competition use in Drag, Drift, Road Race and Rally applications and provides nearly stock pedal feel with tremendous power holding capability. C3 includes a lightweight flywheel. Trade-offs with this package are limited to a high purchase price and a more difficult to modulate feel compared to the single disc applications in Clutch Kit C1-C2. Includes integrated lightweight flywheel.
Availability: Coming Soon
WORKS Spin:
A lightweight flywheel reduces rotating mass for quicker throttle response and a livelier and faster revving engine. The WORKS Spin, weighing a scant 9 pounds, will make rev-matching on downshifts that much easier and allow the turbo to stay on boost more effectively. While the technique for launching an EVO with the lightweight flywheel is somewhat different, we have found drivability to be perfectly managable (even with the notorious steep hills in San Francisco) and any trade-offs well worth it. The WORKS Spin features a hardened center section and replaceable steel wear area for easy and cost-effective maintenance.
- Reduced mass equals increased acceleration
- Bolt secured OEM ring gear
- 6061-T6 aircraft grade billet aluminum
- Steel friction surface
Price: $499.00 each ($449.00 When purchased with WORKS Clutch Kit)
Availability: Now

But since you asked about single vs. twin, I will say the following -- and this does not apply specifically to the Exedy unit, but to twin plate clutches generally (including our C3).
Pros on Twin Disc:
- Light pedal action
- Tremendous Holding Power
- Integrated Lightweight flywheel
Cons on Twin Disc:
- Difficult to modulate -- once it grabs, it grabs.
- High Price (nearly double the cost of the C2)
- More driveline shock -- with the clutch providing less slip, the driveline is taking more of a hit with high rpm clutch dumping on a twin plate design.
So it comes down to what it is that you want out of a clutch. I would characterize our C2 as a great upgrade for someone looking to a streetable single disc clutch that can be slipped some without glazing over, yet has significantly higher clamping/holding power over stock. The C3 and other twin plate clutches are for the big power drag and road race guys who are looking for the holding power that can only be achieved by doubling the effective surface area of the clutch.
Both are excellent products.

So what do you think I should get? I have no idea twin plate or single. I am not going to make my EVO over 400 WHP and thats not going to be anytime soon. is the twin plate will work fine with a stock evo with your ECU upgrade or should i have more HP to make the twin work better.

Yes it will be my daily driver but in the same time I want it to handle alot of power about 350 to 400 hp. David what do you think? I have been told that twin plates are easier to drive than single plate is that right?? I am serious about buying your kit but who makes it? is it you guys?? is it made in the usa or Japan, sorry but I dont trust usa parts for Japanies cars, anyway let me know?

Our C2 uses a sprung hub in conjunction with a heavy duty pressure plate that is much more durable than the stock unit. What this means is that you get the benefit of a much heavier pressure plate capable of withstanding more stress than stock, but at the same time the sprung hub provides the extra cushion to prevent overly harsh engagement and keep pedal stiffness to a minimum. I think you'll find the drivability to be perfectly acceptable even in stop and go traffic. These clutches are made for us to our exacting specifications and represent top-of-the-line engineering from the pressure plate to the wear surface.
Although several of the Japanese companies offer some very exciting and high quality clutch products for the Evo, since an automotive clutch is a wear item on the car, it is important that rebuild and replacement parts be (1) inexpensive and (2) readily available here in the U.S. Nothing is more distressing for enthusiasts when coming in for a clutch replacement than to find that your car will be down for several weeks while simple rebuild parts are sourced from abroad, or that the replacement components cost nearly as much as the entire clutch did when you first bought it.
At WORKS, we will be able to service and send out replacement parts on an expedited basis so that if, for example, you were to experience a clutch or flywheel issue at the local Friday night drag strip event, you could have replacement components to your door as early as Monday or Tuesday of the following week so that you can be back behind the wheel for your commute to work as quickly as possible.
