Clutch, I am about to buy one

Hey guys, I have an EVO with 6000 miles with no problems at all. but I am thinking about buying a new clutch and flywheel and so on, what do you gus think. Which one should I get?? I dont care to much about noise as long as its working fine and I might hook my EVO up to 350 or 400 WHP through the time. I think Exedy is great kit or should I go with HKS, just let me know.

Thanks

I have the Exedey twin disc kit and have no complaints. It is definitely considerably louder and more noticable than stock but that is more the flywheel than it is the clutch. It hooks very well at high RPM drops and unless you really slip the hell out of it, you won't smell a thing.

Go get the Exedy single plate clutch kit. It is said to hold up to 400 HP (your goal) and very streetable. A lot cheaper than a twin plate, if you are concerned about money.

so twin will hold more HP, for example more than 400 HP and its louder than the single clutch. I still think twin will suite me better what you guys think?

Twin plate is actually MORE streetable than a single because it spreads the friction area out over two discs which makes it easier to press in and out.

I use ATS carbon twin plate. It has the advantages of a twin plate with the heat resistance and longetivity of carbon disc over cero-metallic.

I think it was determined by the end of that thread that the problems that guy was having was due to abuse of the clutch. I have 4,000 miles on my Exedey twin disc and have had absolutely no problems with it--even with many high RPM clutch drops.

If you read the entire post it seems to me that there is a problem with the release bearing (stock) one. AL had this problem as well.

Ahhh...I changed my release bearing when I had the clutch installed anyway which I guess is why I am not having any issues.

Doesn't the HKS unit use a better release bearing?

Any of the kits can use a better release bearing--you just have to purchase the better release bearing and have it installed with the clutch.
