Ok, this is gonna sound strange........have anyone of you guys ever checked if he has any boost if full throttle in reverse???

I checked on my evo 9, and there is no boost, as if the turbo doesnt exist..

So now u r gonna ask......why in the world would u even need boost in reverse......well the answer is pretty simple...........some of the autox races in the middle east do require part of the track and maneuvers to be done in reverse. Accordingly, without boost you lose alot of time.....

Would anyone happen to have a clue if that can be changed and if so how ????

Thanks
Cheers!!

To answer your question...I have built boost in reverse...although not on purpose. I have had to back out into traffic a few times and built enough boost to hear it spool and make my APS go off. Don't know how much boost but it was some. Being as short as reverse is I have never tried flooring it...would be an interesting ordeal though.

It would damn near be physically impossible to not build boost in reverse while putting a load on the car (full throttle of course). Usually free revving the car is enough to build 5-6psi. Maybe I am missing something here?

I have a 9 and im pretty sure Ive heard the turbo spooling in reverse quite a few times. Never did actually look at the gauge though...prolly wouldnt be too good of an idea to be stomping on it in reverse and not watching the road behind ya

You should make boost up to 11 psi or so (oem wastegate actuator psi), with sufficient engine load, regardless of the boost control settings.

Go in reverse up a hill?

It's hard to build boost in reverse because its a low gearing and the engine isn't under load.

No problem!

I find it crazy that they go in reverse at an autox though! That's awesome!

Anyone who has seen the inside of our transmission and how dinkey the reverse gear setup is will definately be a bit cautious about boosting in reverse.

It will break!

THIS

You could call Shep and ask if they can put a taller reverse ratio in the trans?
