my driveshaft problem...

ok so, i put a new t case in the other day.

I slided one end of a driveshaft in and bolt the other end of it to the rest of the driveshaft assembly. The driveshaft side that slides in the t case is not all the way in, WTF?

I know I know its rusty NY car

your missing the dust cover on the propeller shaft part side. it looks like a metal cup that fits into the transfer tail cover. dude all that rust and dirt is gong to chew up that oil seal quick. CLEAN the part the goes in the transfer where the seal is, should be free of foreign debris. and find the dust cover for the propshaft, it will cover the seal that you see in the pic. it looks like the piece on the transfer with the seal inside it just smaller and goes inside the other one. im sure it just feel off.

that looks right to me. you have to keep in mind you need some leeway for the yoke to slide in and out as the motor torques. the missing shield just reveals what you normally wouldnt see.
