S1 for me cause you will loose some bottom end and transient response in midrange with stock frame turbo. Not so much with bigger turbo and over 6000rpm response. Don`t believe me ask AMS. They tested them all on 2.0

The intensity of an engines reaction to throttle input is a direct measure of cylinder pressure, and your car ain't NA.

I'm not Greg but put it this way, the S1 will be very forgiving for ya - throttle response, TQ, HP.. a very fine improvement from stock. Howeva the S2 will over power the S1 hands down, but furthermore provide more response, it would just take more tweaking and tuning.

Try this - S1 intake, S2 exhaust (depending on profile - might need earlier ex vlv closing)

I'm not an expert, but I would think that would be cool

I say go with the S2's. I am running the S1's on my IX right now. I love the cams, they perform good and sound good. I for one wish I would have went with S2's. I have a friend who is running S2's in his IX, and he has had th S1's prior to that. He is glad he made the switch, and gained more power. It also gives you room to grow in. He said his throttle response is the same, but each car is different as well so to speak. My S1's gave me decent power, but I would def go with the S2's. Only reason I didnt do so, is I didnt want to deal with drive train upgrade, but now I do lol.

I ended up with the S2's only because I wanted to do it once. the s1 are nice but with a IX I think it would be best to do the s2. let's put it this way my setup right now takes less than 1000 rpm to reach full boost of 27-28 psi. that's from 2700 to 3600ish 0 to 27 psi in fourth gear if I remember correctly.

Just like the car, products go through evolution. GSC cams are being checked, tested, experimented, and revised to make sure they are the best product available. There has been a lot of R&D and a lot of dyno time (and sheets) showing the differences.

Here are 2 cars with somewhat similar sized turbos, one has S1s and the other has S2s-

Notice the "whip" where torque is 90% of full and keeps climbing

Just sold my GSC S1 2nite ( 8 hours on craiglist) so S2 here I come.
GSC S2 cams + GSC Beehive Spring, Ti Retainers, and Spring Seats for 03 Evo 8 that`s my plan.
Do I need anything else to install? Will these cams work with stock valve train ? Thanx bunch

you don't really need the retainers and seats. I installed the gsc beehive springs on my stock seats and retainers. unless you plan on revving over 9k the stock stuff works well with the gsc springs.

I would say seats - no, retainers - sure-whynot. The retainers just provide good unseen "bling" with the new springs.

Tick free lifters, springs, retainers

I got the s2's newest grind installed on a stock block IX with FP Red. I notice no difference in low end response form the stock turbo/cams. Go for them!

Thanks Don Q and everybody else. It seem like anybody who run S2 don`t loose any(or just some) low end with larger turbo. I made up my mind, going with bigger cams. S2 since I`m tearing the engine apart. Some vendors recommend 272 cams like Kelfords with BBK Full What you guys think 272 or 274 (new grinds)
