Where did you get the rubber plugs from? and did you use any sealant compound?

I think you will have a hard time welding a plug to cast iron.
The HKS headgasket is a very good gasket, Cosworth is good too.

We use the cosworth units. I've seen the results from the test above and it reinforces our satisfaction with their headgaskets.

This just happened to a low mile 05 Evo customer. This is the first I've seen. They said they were not in high boost and the idle went up first then it blew the plug out. Makes more sense if they were in high boost.

To the previous guys who had issues with them, were they rebuilt engines that had the plug replaced? This makes me wanna carry some plugs in the car with me. At least to save a tow and just stay under boost.

It happens man. Ive had two on two different built motors. One was a few years one was a few months. Usually tagging rev limit or hard two step before hand and they will pop the next big boost pass.

I couldn't get mine to stop, takeaways from 2 years of agony:

1.) Buschur o-rings their cylinder heads for a reason

2.) if you're running E-85 inspect your injectors often, make sure you don't have the infamous "e85 black goo" buildup

I had an issue with my cam sensor on my old AEM car, it would flake out and the aem would think it was restarting the car. It would add the startup timing to the timing it found in the map, so I'd be running ****loads of timing for a few rev's at high boost. It would lift the head for a split sec and shoot the water pump plug out. That was on an o-ringed head.
