thermostat housing gasket

searched but didnt find my answer, even ordered a part from vendor and it turned out to be wrong

is there a gasket for the thermostat housing? had a bung welded in for water temp guage and just wondering before pulling it off to swap out if im gonna need a gasket

Yes there is a gasket. I don't know the part # as it just came with my gasket set. Call JNZ tuning, they never do me wrong on stock parts.

I remember reading in the service manual that you could just use a rtv type sealant like Right stuff.

the rubber ring around the thermostat is the gasket.

I think he means the lower part that bolts to the head, there is a gasket for that. The FSM says to use the gasket and RTV for a proper seal.
